Self summary
Although I lead a simple, carefree and uncomplicated life here in my glorious West Dorset world, I hold a natural innate desire to deconstruct, examine, explore and reassemble all aspects of this thing we call life!
I like all types of conversation and can sometimes get quite wide eyed and immersed when holding court or encouraging a conversation to shift upwards to a more exotic or left-field nature.
I'm fascinated with the origins of life on Earth, the prehistory of humanity, ancient philosophy, pioneers of history, the concept of time, quantum theory, the prospect of self aware robots, the development of machine intelligence or anything to do with the eventual colonizing of Mars, which I have a personal, commercial interest in seeing materialise.
I love ancient and local history, photography, cycling, walking and angling and I live just minutes away from one of the most spectacular places on earth. The fabulous West Dorset Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage site spanning 95 miles of breathtaking prehistoric coastline.
Set against the fantastic ocean backdrop of Lyme Bay, my particular cliffs lie like scattered books, their ancient pages either layered or fanned open revealing strata, rocks and huge fossils recording 185 million years of Earth's history, some of the best parts of which lie just a short cycle ride across the fields from Beach cottage.
If the mackerel are shoaling or if I need to earth myself with raw nature and the spectacular coastline just 10 minutes from Beach Cottage, I head to the shore or cliffs to remind myself just how wonderful it is to be alive. Otherwise, I'm based at my West Country home offering PC servicing and repair and computer, smartphone or tablet tuition.
From that idyllic and peaceful location, with only the company of an occasional circling bird of prey for company, I spin for bass or mackerel or take photographs or fly my drones, experiencing a wonderful sublime detachment and disassociation from all of humanity and the frantic fuss of 21st century life.
And if I'm not on the beach, you'll, likely, find me exploring any number of ancient Dorset hillforts or plucking 2000 year old Roman coins from the rich dark mineralised soil of an abandoned Anglo-Romano villa.
Best time of the day?
5am. Cycling or eBiking to Eype beach with the sun and a spring tide rising over my shoulder, trekking the hard packed sand and shingle 800 metres west along an unsullied, natural lateral line of a foreshore that leads to fingers of seaweed covered rock reaching out into the ocean under the foreboding but spectacular promontory and cliff known as Thorncombe Beacon.
